Ruth Shepherd has been lucky enough to live all her life in Grassington in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales and is inspired by both her local surroundings and her travels whilst on holiday.

Ruth has always been interested in art, although she has had no formal training she feels privileged to have been guided by local artists Alec Pearson and David Cook while attending their informal art groups. Ruth has also drawn upon the experience and ideas of her friends in the groups.

Ruth is driven by a passion to paint colour, flowers, shapes, windows and views of the chaotic scenes all around her! Ruth likes her works to give a suggestion of the excitement she felt when the subject first inspired her.
